A graduate of Albion's centre of excellence and scholarship system, the young central defender made his first-team debut in the penultimate game of the 2009/10 season at MK Dons.

The club’s youth team captain that season, he went on to impress in Albion’s reserve side and added to his first-team appearances in 2010/11, appearing eight times.

With Adam El-Abd out with a long-term injury, he made a first-team berth his own in 2011/12, form which earned a call up to Stuart Pearce’s England under-21 squad.

After finding himself behind Gordon Greer and Matthew Upson, Dunk had a brief loan spell with Bristol City in 2013 but re-established himself as first-choice centre back during the 2014/15 season, finishing the season as top scorer and as runner-up to Inigo Calderon for the Player of the Season award.
