The Albion today received confirmation from John Prescott that he has given plans for a new Community Stadium at Falmer the go ahead. He has granted planning permission for all of the four planning applications submitted for the scheme.
Albion Chairman Dick Knight said: "This is our greatest home win ever. We are delighted with this outcome and very relieved that John Prescott has so clearly understood the issues that are involved.
"We always knew that Falmer is the right site and he has made the right decision.I pay tribute to everyone who has been involved, but particularly our supporters who have been fantastic.
"They have conducted a brilliant campaign using humour and imagination.They have shown endless patience while we have gone through this long-drawn out process.This has truly been a team effort.
"We hope that the opponents will now work with us to ensure that the development works for the benefit of the whole community."
Albion Chief Executive Martin Perry added, "At last we have the decision we have been waiting for. This is a huge step forward for the club.
"We have been backed by a brilliant team who has worked extremely hard for this result. This is the right decision. We now have a lot of work to do and we enter into a very exciting time for the Albion."
