Posted on: Fri 28 Nov 2008

By Tim Dudding

Yesterday witnessed another momentous moment in the history of the Albion as representatives from the club and the Buckingham Group signed the construction contract for the new Community Stadium.

Project director Martin Perry and construction director Derek Chapman put pen to paper for the club, while Buckingham Group chairman Paul Wheeler and project director Kevin Underwood signed on behalf of the contractors.

Perry said, "This is a massive milestone for the club.

"Construction contracts are now in place ready for work to proceed. The stadium is on its way!"

Preparatory work is due to begin on the site at Falmer in early December, with an official digging ceremony taking place on Wednesday 17th December.

Would you like to be at the digging ceremony? Attendance is by invitation only for safety reasons, but supporters can enter a ballot to be at the momentous occasion.
