Welsh international Andrew Crofts joined Albion on a free transfer in the summer of 2009, having left Gillingham the previous May. Having made his debut at the age of 16 in May 2001, he spent eight years with the Gills as a professional, captained the club, made just under 200 apperances for the Kent club and scored 17 goals. The Chatham-born midfielder, who has a combative edge to his game, has also spent time on loan with Wrexham and Peterborough, and won 12 caps for Wales.
