Diego Arismendi's wait for his Albion debut continues after the Stoke midfielder failed to shake off a thigh problem ahead of Saturday's home match with Swindon Town (3pm).

The Uruguay international picked up a slight strain in training shortly after arriving on loan from the Britannia Stadium, and is now be hoping to resume training ahead of Tuesday night's visit of Brentford.

Albion boss Gus Poyet explained, "He's still not training with us and we don't now exactly when he will be back. We thought he might be back for Friday but now it looks like it might be a couple more days.

"He definitely won't be with us on Saturday but we'll see about Tuesday.

"I think the worst part is for Diego, because he came here to play football. He came down, adapted very quickly to the place which is great for him, but he he's stuck inside with the physio. It's not a nice place for the player to be."

Poyet has no fresh injury concerns. However, Adam Virgo completes his four match ban, while Michel Kuipers (broken finger) and Colin Hawkins (Achilles) are Albion's absentees.

Elsewhere Poyet has responded to media reports linking Albion with Stoke City goalkeeper Steve Simonsen, and says it is unlikely he will be able to lure the 30-year-old stopper to the south coast.

"I don't think it is something that is going to happen now. I don't know how it came out.

"I think when names are spread about it becomes more difficult to get someone. There are plenty of options and we are trying to make the right decision and it's not an easy one.

"We have time to see, and at the moment I am quite comfortable with the situation, but I have to be careful because after the 25th March I can't get anyone, so we're working on it."

Meanwhile, Poyet revealed James Tunnicliffe will be staying at MK Dons for a further month, but with a recall option in the event he is needed by the Seagulls.

"I talked to Tunni the other day and I think it's good for him and it's good for us. He's playing, he's enjoying it and he's happy and players have got to be happy."

Swindon boss Danny Wilson could hand on-loan Liverpool full-back Stephen Darby his debut if Kevin Amankwaah fails to shake off a knock. Skipper Gordon Greer is also struggling with an ankle problem. The play-off hopefuls are aiming to avoid a third straight defeat.
