Gus Poyet's winning start as Albion boss continues after this comfortable 2-0 victory propelled the Seagulls into the second round of the FA Cup.

Fans here were presented with a 'Hola Gus' t-shirt to mark the Uruguayan's first home match, and now thanks to goals from Andrew Crofts and Elliott Bennett, the supporters can look forward to another home tie against Rushden & Diamonds.

Having suffered a similar fate to the Albion at Huddersfield on Saturday, Wycombe came here with a five man midfield and a gameplan to defend.

As a result the Seagulls saw a lot of the ball, and created numerous chances early on. Both Crofts and Tommy Elphick came close with headers, while Liam Dickinson saw his shot blocked after a good passing move.

The best chance fell to Bennett, who was played clean through by a lofted pass from Crofts, but instead of shooting he elected to square towards Dickinson, and the ball was desperately cleared by the Wycombe defence.

On-loan Reading midfielder Scott Davies then forced Michel Kuipers to parry at the other end with a fierce 25-yard drive, before Matt Harrold fired wired.

But soon after Albion got just reward for their opening endeavours, when Bennett stood up a delicate chip to the far post, and although Dickinson appeared to be bundled over, Andy D'Urso allowed play to continue and Crofts drilled the ball into the back of the net for his second goal in as many games.

After a quiet start the second half came to life when Dickinson pounced on Chris Westwood's weak back-header, but although he managed to loft the ball over Scott Shearer, Craig Woodman cleared off the line.

And two minutes later Albion doubled their advantage when Bennett struck a low drive from 25 yards that nestled in the bottom corner.

Craig Davies should have rounded off the scoring with two minutes remaining when played clean through by substitute Kevin McLeod, but fluffed his lines as he tried to round Shearer and the chance was gone.
