The horror shows against Huddersfield and Stockport seemed a distant memory as Albion produced a superb display to earn a deserved point at the Den.
Jason Price had given the Lions a sixth minute lead in a frenetic atmosphere in South London, but Nicky Forster equalised to cap a tremendous performance from Russell Slade's men.
As the game kicked off the heavens opened over Bermondsey, and with the downpour came a strong start for the home side, and the opening goal.
Gary Alexander outstripped Andrew Whing on the left flank, and benefitting from the slick surface, expertly crossed low into the area where Price - who was only on the pitch because of a late injury to Neil Harris during the warm-up - arrived with gusto to put the Lions in front.
Alexander should then have doubled Millwall's tally minutes later when he was played through by an excellent pass from Marc Laird, but Michel Kuipers, recalled at the expense of Graeme Smith, denied the Lions striker with a strong outstretched hand.
Albion steadied themselves, and Dean Cox had a good chance to level matters when Nicky Forster nodded into his path, but the midfielder's athletic volley flew wide.
Kuipers, making his 250th league appearance, further warranted his recall with another fine save, this time diving at full-stretch to his left to keep out Alexander's downwards header.
Alan Navarro picked up a knock and had to be substituted for Gary Dicker at half-time, and after the break Albion continued to control large spells of the game.
In the 58th minute Dickinson, who was led the line brilliantly all night, turned superbly outside the area and threaded a little ball inside for Elliott Bennett, but the winger lost his composure and shot wildly, when a ball across the face of goal to the waiting Forster or Cox would have surely proved more fruitful.
Albion's possession were making an already hostile home crowd very restless, and Cox then went inches from drawing the Seagulls level. A kind bounce gave the midfielder time on the corner of the box, but his delicate chip agonisingly struck the underside of the crossbar. The rebound fell straight to Forster, but the striker could only nod the ball weakly wide from close range.
By Forster's standards it was a bad miss, but minutes later the Albion forward atoned for his error to give Albion a deserved equaliser. Adam Virgo, imperious at the back, curled in a searching deep cross and Forster's downward header was too powerful for David Forde in the Millwall goal.
Albion have suffered a frustrating trend of late to concede soon after they had scored themselves, and shortly after the restart Jimmy Abdou had a glorious chance to regain the lead for Millwall, but his shot from 18 yards was kept out by another terrific save from Kuipers.
All the hard work was almost undone as Millwall rallied in the final stages, but a desperate goal-line clearance from James Tunnicliffe denied Andy Frampton, and Albion's share of the spoils were safe.
