Steve Claridge today admitted he wants to agree a new deal with the Seagulls after his current contract expires.
The 38-year-old striker's initial one-month deal comes to an end after Saturday's trip to his former club Millwall, but Claridge hopes to tie up a new contract before the clash at the New Den.
Claridge told Seagulls World, "I spoke to the manager [Mark McGhee] quickly yesterday and he said that he wants to get something sorted out, and I'm of exactly the same mind, so hopefully we can get something done.
"It's a great club all round. The boys are super, the manager is great and it has been very enjoyable.
"If he [McGhee] wants me to stay, then we're certainly not going to fall out over finances so hopefully we can get something done today or tomorrow."

Claridge is hoping to stay
Albion boss Mark McGhee also admitted he is keen for Claridge to remain with the Seagulls, after the veteran striker has helped the team to two victories in the four games he has played.
McGhee said, "I want to keep Steve for a longer period and I'm going to speak to him later today. I'm pleased with his contribution and I think he can continue to make a contribution, so I'll then speak the chairman and try to resolve something."
Claridge spent two years at Millwall under McGhee, and is looking forward to returning to South London on Saturday.
"I had some good times there and I've got some really good memories of the place," he said.
