Two second-half goals from Leon Redwood sealed a 2-0 win for Albion's Under-18 side against Aldershot in the Football League Youth Alliance Cup, on Saturday.
The Seagulls youth string also kept their first clean sheet of the season to see out the victory against Shots, who they lost to in the opening game of the campaign.
A tight first half proved goalless, with the best chance falling to Jake Caskey, whose 10-yard volley was spectacularly clawed from the top corner by Aldershot keeper, Luke Hutchings.
Albion's breakthrough came with a well-worked team goal on the hour mark. The Seagulls worked the ball through Caskey and Tom Vickers in midfield before sliding the ball wide to Redwood on the left. The winger took one touch into the 18-yard box and drove the ball low into the bottom right corner.
Steve Brown's side then doubled their lead with ten minutes remaining. Now playing up front , Redwood dropped short to pick up the ball before turning onto his favoured left foot and drilling the ball into the same corner from 30 yards.
Brown praised his side's response to a disappointing 4-2 defeat at Gillingham the previous weekend, and told seagulls.co.uk, "I'm happy with the lads' reaction because I was highly critical of the team last weekend.
"The players showed great self belief and we saw out a good win, with a clean sheet, and two great goals for Leon.
"We have still got work to do, and I don't want the boys thinking that everything is all sorted after keeping a clean sheet on Saturday, because it's not.
"We did better, but there is still work to do. Even after a positive performance and a positive result there are always improvements to be made by all individuals, but we're making strides in the right direction."
Albion continue in the cup at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
