Kazenga's Albion Delight

Posted on: Thu 02 Sep 2010

Kazenga LuaLua has revealed that Albion was always top of his wish-list, despite reported interest from Championship and other League One clubs for his signature.

The Newcastle United winger made a big impact during 11 Albion appearances on loan last season, and finally got his desired return confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

He will now be on loan with Albion until 3rd January 2011 and told seagulls.co.uk, "It has been a long summer but I'm finally here and I'm very happy to be back. I knew that I was always going to come here no matter what happened, because everyone was so nice to me last season, and I had a good time - so I said that to the Newcastle manager Chris Hughton.

"I made my mind up before the summer, because it's always good for me to be playing games. I went back to Newcastle last season, after I injured my hamstring, but I spoke with Gus [Poyet] and my agent, and I said to both that I wanted to come back down, so I'm happy to be here.

"I was hoping to play last night in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but there was some sort of problem at the Newcastle end which delayed me signing. But I've signed now and that's the most important thing because I'm here now.

"I'm now looking forward to next weekend when I will hopefully play against MK Dons at Withdean. I have come here to do my best for myself, for Brighton, and for everyone else involved. Right now I'm playing for Brighton and I'm not thinking about anything else."

The Congolese winger has also paid tribute to the Albion fans for their support last season, and the warm reception he received when he was re-introduced to the Withdean crowd prior to the JPT fixture against Leyton Orient last night.

"When I played last season the fans were great to me. They always wanted to talk to me and ask me questions after the games. It's so nice when the fans want you back, and it seems they do want me here so I want to thank them for that.

"At the moment I am here on loan until the New Year, and what happens after that will happen. If Brighton still want me they will have to talk to Newcastle but I'm just going to play my football and we'll wait and see.

"I feel good and there is nothing wrong with me. I had a good summer, and a good pre-season with Newcastle, where I managed to play some games in the Carling Cup. I'm 100 percent fit and ready to go."
