Mauricio Taricco has told seagulls.co.uk the new four-year deals for Albion's management duo give them the chance to mould the next generation of players coming through.

The Albion assistant manager said, "We are very happy to sign the contract because that is what we both wanted. We get along very well and I'm here to help in any way that I can, to help the gaffer and the team.

"It gives us the chance to work with the younger players because you know that in two, three or four-years time we will be here when they are coming through.

"We get the chance to watch them and get our ideas across to them which is the most important thing at the end of the day. That way, when they get to 18 they are ready, they know what we want from them and they will slot in to play our way.

"That is the way the big clubs are, Barcelona is set up that way and in my opinion that is a club that you should try and learn from.

"It will be nice to be able to go and watch the under-18s, and we want them to be playing with the same style as the first team."

The Argentinean also revealed the Albion's current pre-season tour base at the Vale do Lobo resort in Portugal is among the best he has been to, having travelled abroad during his playing career with Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

"It's great out here. We have a great hotel and great facilities. Gus and I have been to different places with different clubs when we were playing, and we think this is one of the best, if not the best place that we have been to.

"We have been to five-star places that are more luxurious but at the end of the day this is a great hotel which we almost have to ourselves. Over here it's intimate with just us and the pitch nearby to train. The gaffer can work hard and at the same time relax and be together to enjoy the sun, so we can't ask for anything else.

"That togetherness of the players showed against Sunderland where in the first-half we kept the ball for fun. That is our aim so we are expecting a lot more like that. If we manage to achieve that then I'm confident that we will have no problems to grow as a team and move into the Championship together."
