Imposing defender James Tunnicliffe has joined Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan deal.
The 21-year-old centre-half, who moved to Albion from Stockport County last summer in a £125,000 move, has agreed a year-long loan deal with Rovers.
He had found first-team opportunities limited in the second half of last season, and moved to MK Dons on loan in February.
Manager Gus Poyet, who added defender Gordon Greer this week, commented, "Similar to Jimmy McNulty, James wants to be playing regular first-team football, and I could not guarantee that to him here at Brighton.
"There is greater opportunity at Bristol Rovers, so we were happy to let James out on loan for the duration of the season. As with Jimmy at Scunthorpe, we will keep an eye on his progress, as he still has one more year left on his contract with us."
Meanwhile, Spanish right-back Inigo Calderon has given Albion a timely boost; the former Alaves captain received the green light by the specialist to return to match action.
Calderon injured his left hip after stretching awkwardly during the 1-0 victory over Southend in April, but is in line to make his long-awaited return in either Friday night's friendly at Bognor Regis Town (7.30pm) or in Saturday's match at Eastbourne Borough (3pm).
