Liam Dickinson is set to complete a move to Championship side Barnsley for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old striker, who had two years left on his contract with Albion, passed his medical at Oakwell earlier today before putting pen-to-paper on a two-year contract.
Dickinson was brought to Withdean by Russell Slade in August 2009, but struggled to maintain a first-team place once Gus Poyet was appointed as manager and finished last season on loan at Peterborough United.
Poyet said, "It was difficult for Liam to get into the team last year, both because of the way that we play, and the quantity of strikers we had at the time.
"It's football. Sometimes when you are at a club it just doesn't work out. If a player isn't happy at the club then we are happy for that player to move on.
"He has the chance to play Championship football, we wish him all the best and hope that he does well at Barnsley."
The former Stockport and Derby hitman scored six times in his 32 appearances for the Seagulls. He will link up with the rest of the Barnsley squad tomorrow for the start of their pre-season schedule.
