Tano Returns for 'Massive' Pre-Season

The Albion coaching staff return to the club this week to prepare for a 'massive' pre-season, according to Mauricio Taricco.

The Seagulls' assistant manager has been on holiday in Argentina this summer and says he has rested, recuperated, and is now ready to help the side hit the ground running for the first game of the season at Swindon Town on August 7.

Taricco told seagulls.co.uk, "I've always been a person who, when it comes to the summer, can manage to switch off from football for a few weeks.

"That was the case when I was a player and it's the same being a coach, but I'm now ready to get back to work and prepare for what will be a massive pre-season for us.

"The coaching staff are meeting this week to prepare our strategy for pre-season. We want to finalise what we will do in training, plan our pre-season games, and I'm sure we'll also talk about the players - both the current squad and the possible players we are trying to bring in to the club.

"Obviously last season we didn't have the benefit of a pre-season with the players, but it's a different scenario this time. We want to make our pre-season as professional as possible to ensure that we are ready for the first game against Swindon Town."

Aside from holidaying, Tano did manage a spot of scouting while in Argentina but admits his time back home was not as enjoyable as it could have been. "I went down with appendicitis," he adds. "I was doing a spot of scouting when I suffered a really bad pain in my stomach. I was told it was serious and needed an operation, but I'm now fully fit and raring to go."

Albion face pre-season games at Burgess Hill, Whitehawk, Bognor Regis Town and Eastbourne Borough, prior to two dates in Portugal, against Sunderland and Portuguese top-flight side Portimonense. It's then back to Withdean for our final game, against Mark McGhee's Aberdeen. See www.seagulls.co.uk/page/Preseason for further details.
