Bennett: Best of My Career

Elliott Bennett has labelled his wonder strike in yesterday's 2-0 win at Oldham as the best goal of his career so far.

The Seagulls winger, who planted a blistering 20-yard strike into the top corner after cutting in from the left wing, told seagulls.co.uk, "It's the best goal I've scored.

"It came at an important time for the team because we were not playing well at the beginning of the game. All I could hear was Gary Dicker with his Irish voice shouting at me to shoot, so I had a go and I'm delighted it went in.

"My goal scoring record wasn't that great when I first came here and I said I wanted to change that, and I've double my record from last season.

"We've still got nine games to go and I would love to keep getting on the scoresheet, but all the time the team is winning I'm happy.

"Our away form is brilliant and even though we didn't play well today, we had a 25-minute spell where we played at the standard that the gaffer wants.

The 21-year-old also paid tribute to Albion's first-team coach Charlie Oatway.

"I've been speaking to Charlie Oatway quite regularly and he's been saying: 'If you do something bad in the match, don't let it get to you' because I tend to think about things too much.

"Instead I need to get on with the game, and think positively. I had an awful first touch in the game yesterday, taking a corner which we have practiced on the training ground. I was trying to chip it to the front post but I connected with the ball dreadfully and ball went straight out - but I didn't dwell on it and let it affect my game."
