Adam Virgo had double cause for celebration last night after marking his 200th league appearance with a goal in the 3-0 victory over Brentford.
However the defender, who returned from a four-match ban as a substitute, admitted that securing a rare home victory was more pleasing than his personal milestone.
"First and foremost it was a massive three points for the club tonight. It was well documented our home record wasn't too good but we knew the problems Brentford could cause us tonight and dealt with that very well at the back.
"The most important thing is the league table and we knew that if we didn't win tonight we wouldn't move up the table. They have a lot of games in hand over us so we knew we had to get three points off them."
Virgo also had praise for fellow goalscorer Glenn Murray, who ended a year-long drought at Withdean with Albion's opener against the Bees.
"We started the game very well and you know your luck's in when Glenn Murray scores at home! He has kept creating chances for himself and just been unfortunate that he hadn't scored.
"Everyone can see what he can do at Wycombe and Southampton and the qualities that he possesses, so I'm as delighted as anyone for him to get his goal tonight. I never saw it as a burden on his back but I'm sure it's nice for him to score."
