Albion in the Community's Kickz Project has received an extensive boost with funding to enable an investment in new goalposts, for the pioneering 11-a-side league in Whitehawk.
The Kickz Project has joined forces with Brighton and Hove City Council, City College, DC Leisure, and self-help group for teenagers RU-OK to finance the goalposts allowing one of the county's only free football leagues to grow.
The league is open to everyone in Brighton and Hove between the ages of 15-19-years-old, and takes place every Friday between 7pm - 9pm. It currently attracts around forty players during the winter months at Stanley Deason Leisure Centre. However, many more are expected to take part during the summer months - at the Crew Club.
AITC's Kickz Project aims to tackle youth disorder by engaging with young people at times of anti-social behaviour, and project officer Martin Schooley is delighted with the partnership.
"These goals will enable us to deliver the Kickz project better for our participants in East Brighton. It's great that a network of partners can come together to make this happen, and I hope this is just the beginning of something significant that we can achieve together."
Brighton and Hove City Council's Carole Page added, "Brighton & Hove City Council views Albion in the Community as the key provider of football opportunities across the city and is always pleased to offer partnership support to the various projects driven by the Albion in the Community Team.
"Their work has been deservedly rewarded at National level, with a number of prestigious awards recognising the impact of their grass roots programmes across all ages, abilities and backgrounds"
