Gus Poyet tonight praised his captain Andrew Crofts after his last-minute equaliser earned Albion a draw against Stockport County at Edgeley Park.

The Seagulls fell behind in the 58th minute to a long-range Danny Pilkington strike, but Crofts salvaged a point with his own long-range effort with time running out.

Poyet told seagulls.co.uk, "That is Crofty at his best. When you are in that situation you need something. People are tired, but you know that Crofty will create something.

"He is going to react and will always find that extra bit inside of himself. He may have been lucky with the bounce, but I always say if you don't hit the target, you don't score."

Poyet admitted that he had expected all three points against bottom-of-the-table Stockport before the match, but vowed to accept the point and move on.

"If you asked me before the game I would have said it was two points dropped, but having watched the game and seen how we played I don't know.

"After the game I am very disappointed about how we played and how few chances we created, but you have to take everything as it comes.

"After three away games on the trot we have to take it, go home, and move on. We were not at our best today so we'll forget it, and go home."
