Albion boss Gus Poyet has warned his players their efforts at Villa Park will count for little, if they fail to perform against Stockport County tomorrow evening in League One.

Poyet was rightly proud of his team after Saturday's 3-2 defeat, but sounded a warning to his squad ahead of the the trip north to Edgeley Park.

"It was a day to remember on Saturday, a day to be proud of the supporters and the players, but it will not matter what we did, if we don't win tomorrow.

"They've got five new players and I'm sure they will bring new quality because they've been playing all the time, so we need to be careful.

"We also need to remember that we lost against them earlier in the season. We have to make sure that we take this as a very important game.

"It doesn't matter what position they are in the table - at the moment they will have added confidence, because they have taken three points from us.

Meanwhile Poyet explained that Chris Holroyd's move from Cambridge United is in limbo.

The player is still to accept personal terms offered by the club, after Albion agreed a transfer fee with Cambridge United last Friday.

Poyet explained, "Things are a little bit complicated at the moment, but we are still in the transfer window so we have to wait and see how things pan out.

"There are always little problems with transfers and negotiations, but that's football. We will just have to wait and see what happens."
