Virgo: I'll Fight for a Place

Posted on: Fri 01 Jan 2010

By Paul Camillin

Adam Virgo has quashed speculation surrounding his future, and told the club's official website he wants to stay with the club and fight for his place.

He said, "I want to fight for my place at the club I grew up with. I would be lying if I said I was happy with how things have gone in recent months, but that is part and parcel of the game.

"Tommy, James and Adam have all done well at centre half, and I respect the gaffer's decision, but I will be patient and when the opportunity arises, hopefully I can take my chance."

Virgo also laughed off speculation that he was saying goodbye to the fans when he threw his shirt to a young fan at Wycombe.

"A friend asked me for the shirt, and I had agreed to give it to them. I saw them in the crowd and gave it to them.

"I've done that before, a couple of times this season - but with the transfer window coming up, I can understand the confusion."
