The under-18s progressed into the third round of the Youth Alliance Cup after Leon Redwood fired Albion to a 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

The winger - deputising in attack for George Barker, who was on the bench for the first team at Wycombe - netted twice before the break to set up a third round tie at QPR on Saturday 16th January.

Redwood opened the scoring after eight minutes when he capitalised on a weak back-pass to poke the ball into the bottom corner, before doubling the lead from the penalty spot after a Cherries defender had handled in the area.

Coach Vic Bragg told seagulls.co.uk, "I was pleased with the performance, and we played some really good stuff at times.

"It was a good result because Bournemouth are doing well in their league, and like us they came into the game on a high after winning their FA Youth Cup match in the week.

"It was also pleasing to get a clean sheet. Our back four in particular were very good."

Meanwhile, Albion's FA Youth Cup second-round tie against Ebbsfleet will take place on Wednesday 25th November at Bognor Regis Town's Nyewood Lane, kick-off 7pm.

Plus the re-arranged home match against Gillingham will now be played on Saturday 30th January, kick-off 11am.

Albion: (4-4-2) James; Strong, Hall, Dunk, Bolwell (Cooper 46); Hayward, Caskey, Wilkins, Smith; Redwood, Hider (Woodley 85). Subs not used Godfrey GK, Sheriff.
