Albion's reserves drew 2-2 with Gillingham this afternoon after an injury time mistake from Seagulls keeper Graeme Smith handed the Kent side a draw.
Albion were leading 2-1 after goals from Glenn Murray and David Livermore, but in the dying seconds Smith missed his kick as he tried to clear his lines, and Tom Murphy was gifted a simple equaliser for the Gills.
Murray, continuing his recovery from hernia surgery, had headed Albion in front from Gary Hart's cross in the 57th minute.
Rashid Yussuff equalised from close range with nine minutes remaining, before Livermore restored Albion's lead with a left-foot effort following a second assist by Hart.
Meanwhile, Jim McNulty came through 75 minutes unscathed on his return from an ankle injury, while Hastings United trialist Rhys Whybourne played 90 minutes at centre-half.
Director of Football Martin Hinshelwood said, "It's always hard when you play Gillingham, but we matched them physically, which was pleasing.
"Graeme is disappointed with the finish, but it's just one of those things.
"Importantly, the likes of Jim McNulty, Glenn Murray and Alan Navarro all came through the game without any problem, which is obviously good news for the first team."
Albion: (4-4-2) G Smith; Ide, Cook, Whybourne, McNulty (Dunk 75); Jamie Smith (Brinkhurst 70), Navarro, Livermore, McLeod; Hart, Murray (Barker 77). Subs not used: James Smith, Pelling (GK).
