Final Score: Torquay United 1 Albion 0
A third defeat of pre-season for the Albion as they go down 1-0 here at Plainmoor. A combative work-out for the team from a highly-charged Torquay side and a bit of controversy in the shape of the red card for Craig Davies. We wait to see what effect that will have on Davies' participation in the early part of the season.
81: Free-kick to Albion, 25 yards out. Alan Navarro flicks the ball towards the far post and finds Tunnicliffe, whose header is well saved by Bevan once again. As Tunnicliffe rose for that header his shirt remained grounded, courtesy of a stray hand. The subsequent rip has turned it into a v-neck!
78: Jamie Smith replaces Cox as the Albion make their final change of the night.
77: James Tunnicliffe replaces Virgo.
73: Craig Davies receives a straight red card from referee Mike Cairns after an altercation with Mark Ellis, who receives a booking.
70 : Great save by Graeme Smith keeps the Albion in the game as Tim Sills gets a quality header in from close range.
66: Adam El-Abd replaces Whing as the Albion make their eighth substitution.
62: Craig Davies takes a blow to his left knee and receives lengthy attention from Jim Joyce
60: Mass change for the Albion. Adam Virgo, Dean Cox, Andrew Whing and Jake Wright are the four that remain on the pitch. Wright moves to centre back.
49: Placed shot from Mark Wright after being well set-up by Dean Cox. Another good save from Bevan, diving away to his left. The 'keeper pounces on the rebound before Liam Dickinson can capitalise.
47: Early free-kick opportunity for Brighton. Danny Spiller drives along the ground and it is only parried by 'keeper Bevan. Andrew Crofts buries the rebound but there is a flag up for offside.
46: No changes at the break for Albion. Torquay make two changes.
40: Nicky Forster sees his snap-shot well saved by Scott Bevan in the Torquay goal.
38: GOAL! Torquay break the deadlock and take the lead. New signing Scott Rendell finishing off a flowing move down the right hand side.
30: Similar story at the half-hour mark. No goals yet but Torquay marginally ahead on chances,
15: No goals yet as the two teams tussle with each other, looking to gain the upper hand.
03: First chance of the game falls to Torquay after a quick break leaves the Albion defence a little flat-footed; but Danny Steven's shot is dragged well wide and the chance squandered.
00: Kick-off! Russell Slade has named 21 players tonight and perhaps most interest will be on the left-back slot where Crawley's Jake Wright starts the match. AEK Athens' Andreas Chronis is on the bench and is expected to play a part later in the game.
