Albion are set to complete the signing of Welsh international Andrew Crofts on a free transfer in the next 24 hours.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who left Gillingham at the end of last season, will link up with his new teammates for the first day of pre-season training tomorrow morning, before signing a two-year contract later in the day.
Albion boss Russell Slade said, "I've been aware of Andrew for some time.
"He's an international player so that's not bad for a start. He's got good pedigree and was an important player for a good Gillingham team at the time.
"He can sit in for you defensively or he can get forward. He has got a good work ethic and I'm pleased to get him."
Crofts also spent time on loan with Peterborough United and Wrexham last season, and has made over 200 senior appearances since making his Gills debut aged just 16 against Watford in the Championship.
He has won Welsh caps at under-19 and under-21 level and made his full debut against Azerbaijan. He has been capped 12 times at senior level, making him Gillingham's most-capped player of all time.
