The club can confirm that Ian Chapman has resigned from his coaching role with immediate effect.

The former Albion left-back was initially brought in by Dean Wilkins on a part-time basis in October 2006, before making his position permanent at the start of last season.

Albion manager Micky Adams revealed he tried to convince Chapman to remain part of the club's backroom staff.

He said, "I spoke to Ian and told him to think long and hard about it but he had made his mind up.

"Obviously, with Dean not being manager any more he felt a little bit uncomfortable about it all and you have to expect that.

"He has certainly got no axe to grind with me. We are sorry to see him go and we thank him for his services."

The club would like to thank Ian for all his hard work over the last 18 months, and wish him well for the future.
