Albion brought their away campaign to an end with a 2-0 win at Bristol Rovers, and boss Dean Wilkins dedicated the result to the fans who have followed the Seagulls on their travels this season.
831 fans made the trip to the Memorial Stadium to witness Albion's seventh league win away from Withdean, despite the fact the game was rendered meaningless after Leeds secured the last playoff spot on Friday night.
Wilkins said, "I would like to start by saying thanks to our away support for the whole season.
"Without a doubt it is the best in the division by an absolute mile and I would like to thank them on behalf of the players, the staff, and the whole club after what has been a magnificent support throughout the season. We tip our hats to everybody.
"It was great to get the win for them as, coming after the result last night when it looks like - hearing pending - we have failed to make the playoffs, for them to turn up to support us in such numbers for our last away game was quite phenomenal."
A dreadful pitch at the Memorial Stadium made for a largely forgettable encounter, but Wilkins was quick to praise his team for dealing with the conditions, and adapting to a new shape in the second half.
"I can't explain just how difficult the pitch was out there today," he said.
"We could not get any sort of rhythm going in terms of passing but what has helped us on a number of occasions during the season, and again today, was that when we changed the shape midway through the second half we got control of the game and scored the two goals.
"Again, all credit to the players for sticking in there and digging in and seeing out what was, in the end, quite a comfortable win."
Wilkins also explained his reasons for handing first year pro Sam Gargan his senior debut after recalling the striker from his loan spell at Welling United.
"Sam Gargan has scored 22 goals on his travels this year, most recently at Welling with Chippy (Richard Carpenter) and we have had good reports back.
"I just felt that with Jonny Dixon being ill and Glenn Murray feeling unwell for a couple of days and Nicky Forster having a light problem with his knee, we had a number of players who were touch and go.
"We felt it was the ideal time to call him back and the ideal situation to give him his first minutes of league football."
