Wilkins Rues Missed Opportunities

Dean Wilkins was frustrated Albion couldn't capitalise on their chances against Leyton Orient to go within four points of the play-offs, but is pleased to keep the momentum going.

The Seagulls saw a host of chances go begging against the O's, but nevertheless, Nicky Forster's late penalty ensured Wilkins's side are now just six points of the play-off places, with three games in hand.

Wilkins said, "The play-offs remain very much a target and we are even closer after today, six points behind with three games in hand.

"So we are well in touch, which makes it all the more frustrating that we haven't taken full advantage of the chances that we had today.

"If we can create that number of chances regularly then we will win a fair percentage of games and that is what we have been doing recently, especially at home. We expect that to continue.

"If we have got the aspirations of getting right in among those play-off places then we really need to take advantage of those opportunities that we missed out on today.

"In the second half we could almost sense things going against us for a period and I must admit that I was concerned and it didn't really surprise me that they scored. But then we do have to take credit for the way that we bounced back with just minutes to go to force a penalty - that was fantastic.

"The players have dug in and kept going and we got a point from it."

Forster's late spot-kick ended a drought stretching back to the Swindon victory in December, and Wilkins says he was always confident the striker would keep his nerve to salvage the draw.

"Hopefully the goal will kick-start Nicky now. I think it has played on his mind but his contribution generally has been good.

"He has been creating opportunities for others as well and that is a positive for us, even though it was a penalty, it gets him back on the score sheet.

"He is the sort of character that I would expect to take the responsibility there and we knew he was going to take it."
