Dean Wilkins tonight praised super-sub Bas Savage after the striker nicked all three points for the Seagulls with a late solo effort at Victoria Park.
He said, "I didn't think we deserved any more than a point after the second half performance, but Bas has come off the bench - which he has done a few times this year - and provided a bit of brilliance to get us out of jail.
"As last week we were remembering the performance but losing the points (against Leeds), this week we're the opposite way around. We want to forget the performance.
"We need to look at the second half performance, but once we get into Monday and Tuesday, we need to forget it and be very thankful for the three points."
It was an emotional afternoon as the home side paid tribute to winger Michael Maidens, who died in a car accident last week.
"With the words before the game you can't help but feel involved in the emotion," Wilkins admitted. "It was very difficult to deal with."
Indeed the emotions of the afternoon spilled over at the end of the game, and Wilkins was at pains to apologise to the 450 travelling Albion fans for steering his players down the tunnel immediately on the final whistle.
"It looked like at the end of the game that it was really going to boil over. My apologies to our supporters who travelled up - I just got as many players as I could down the tunnel, which only left a few of them to show their appreciation.
"From myself and the players that didn't give them that round of applause they fully deserved, our sincere apologies."
