Wilkins Pleased Overall

Dean Wilkins admitted it would be a happy team bus making the long journey back from Swansea this afternoon, but has warned his players they must be more clinical in front of goal.

The Seagulls twice hit the woodwork at the Liberty Stadium, while Nicky Forster and George O'Callgahan also came close, and the Albion boss says his side must start taking their chances when they are on top during games.

"I think that in the first half we had control of the game and got into some good situations," he said.

"What we do need to improve on is our finishing and our play in the final third but that comes as a responsibility of us and every individual to try and improve on that.

"We are getting it into some good situations but maybe not taking advantage of as many as we would like to."

The draw represented Albion's first point on the road this season, and Wilkins was delighted that the Seagulls would be leaving South Wales with something to show for their eforts.

"Swansea got booed off at half-time so that we knew that the second half would be played at a higher tempo and to be fair for the first 20 minutes they were almost unplayable. Some of their movement and the quality of their play was fantastic.

"The thing that pleased me more than anything was our determination to hang on to what we had got, and I think that is where we have to come out of the game with an awful lot of credit.

"It was real heroic stuff at times in defence and the players really need to be commended about that. It was a fantastic effort and there were people putting their bodies on the line which is what we need.

"There are lots to take into the Bournemouth game on Tuesday."

Meanwhile, Wilkins also revealed why he left Jake Robinson out of the 16.

"There was a lack of professionalism on Friday, when we were already up here, and that was what the decision was made over.

"The matter is closed as far as we are concerned. I've had a brief word with Jake and we'll be speaking again during the week."

David Martot will see an osteopath on Monday after missing this afternoon's game with a stiff back.
