Sun Safety

Posted on: Mon 06 Dec 2010

Albion in the Community's Health department delivers a 'Sun Safety' Campaign to 5,000 young people across the Brighton & Hove area.

The campaign works to keep children safe in the sun by making them aware of the dangers of staying out unprotected for too long. The campaign includes several key activities for raising awareness.

The first, aims at targeted schools that are situated in areas suffering from health inequalities. It provides them with fully inclusive sun safety workshops that incorporate interactive physical activity games and age appropriate work sheets that are linked to the National Curriculum. These are operated by our qualified AITC coaches that spend a full-day per school delivering this service.

There are also coaches on established 'AITC after-school/evening sessions' which deliver sun safety workshops to the participants over a week.

Sun Safety merchandise such as branded hats are distributed at selected sessions while schools have the opportunity to buy extra merchandise direct from the suppliers.

The 'Sun Safety' Campaign is channelled through different local and social media platforms therefore gaining the maximum exposure in order to inform the wider public around Brighton & Hove.
