Albion in the Community, in the West Sussex area is delivered by the area's football & sports participation officer, along with his team of more than 20 coaching staff.
The area has been backed by Chichester based registered social landlord - Hyde Martlet - for over six years, providing the participation officer with work space, a highly decorated community van, and support on the social inclusion scheme, working alongside Chichester District Council and four other registered social landlords.
Children benefit every week from over 70 coaching sessions, which include after-school football clubs, curriculum lessons and PPA cover, as well as local players attending AITC's Football Development Centres in either Southbourne, Billingshurst, Westergate, Chichester or Worthing.
Children also participate in holiday courses during every half-term throughout the academic year.
In addition to all the weekly activities, every year the scheme takes it's Development Centre players on tour to Holland. In 2010 they competed in the Den Bosch Cup, and in previous years visited Arnham, Amsterdam and other locations competing in competitions across Europe.
The West Sussex social inclusion scheme is a huge success, and being backed by Hyde Martlet, Chichester District Council, Affinity Sutton, Home, Raglan and a2dominion, the scheme are able to deliver holiday courses for £5, which help keep children away from possible anti-social behaviour, and engage with them with a vision to working together and helping to build essential team skills.
The backers also fund the term-time Friday Night Club in Chichester, with a weekly attendance of over 60 children, aging from six to 16 years old.
