The Coach and Player Development scheme aims to form a link between the club's Centre of Excellence and grass roots football in Sussex.

The department is unique from many other professional club's set-ups, as the the Head of Coach and Player Development, David Jupp, works with all departments, regional staff and coaches on all technical, project and youth developmental issues.

These include:

- In Service training for club coaches
- Skills Training Centres, Advanced Skills Training Centres and Residential courses
- Technical and development programmes
- Staff Professional Development
- Links with other non-league and professional clubs and county FAs
- Coach Education
- Football Development Programmes
- Project support and delivery
- National FA and PFA Initiatives
- International projects (INTERREG)
- Foreign coaching projects

David also works closely with the Coaching for Hope project and has written coaching books and also delivered coaching in Africa on numerous occasions.

The 2007/08 season sees the implementation of Advanced Skills Centre squads and also, the development of a technical DVD aimed at children and coaches.

A new physical literacy development programme is currently being written. This will be delivered to all players and coaches at the club, with a view to developing children between the ages of seven and 18.

David combines this with his Centre of Excellence Manager role, in which he works with all Centre of Excellence and youth team players and coaches.

He works closely with Martin Hinshelwood and Vic Bragg in the youth set up and as mentioned previously, works with all senior and regional staff and coaches within Albion in the Community. This allows close links between the community and youth set up in both coaching and development.
