It's been a busy week for AITC's ground-breaking Want to Work programme.
Sixteen beneficiaries from the Brighton Job Centre completed an Exercise Studies Level 1 qualification at the stadium this week, while American Express and Mishon Mackay estate agents actively supported classroom sessions, furthering their commitment to the programme.
AITC has also enabled a student from Brighton University to participate in the delivery of the course to assist in their own teaching qualification and three beneficiaries completed a one-day introduction to work.
Richard spent the day with Mark Buckle, who owns North Star Motor Company in Sayers Common, and got to use his IT skills.
Mark said, "It was a good experience for me and my staff to receive our first placement from the AITC Want to Work scheme.
"We found it a beneficial day and we hope Richard did too. On one hand it is worrying and distressing that so many people are not finding suitable employment, but on another it is encouraging for me to see that there are people of this fine calibre seeking employment.
"It will certainly make me think seriously about progressing to a work trial to see if Richard's particular skill set in IT would enhance our company and its future growth and ambitions."
BrightonandHoveJobs.com have hosted groups of 16 to 18 NEETs trough AITC's Opt in Plus scheme, further demonstrating their commitment to the football club through Want to Work.
Carl Southwell, from AITC Education, has been involved in every step of the project and added, "It has been a huge task so far, but it's a huge problem so we relish the challenge of trying to tackle it.
"Without the support of all the companies and the Job Centre Plus we couldn't make the difference we want to. We can now grow bigger and create more sustainable job opportunities for the unemployed.
"It is the ultimate job satisfaction to see someone gain employment, or just getting confidence from the work experience, and that's why we are all pulling together to make it happen."
