Albion in the Community played a major role in the 2009 Take Part Festival on Saturday, which saw over 12,000 people flock to Preston Park.
It was a great family day out in the sunshine, and also an ideal opportunity to meet Albion staff and find out more about Albion in the Community's many sports courses and programmes for children and adults.
There was plenty for all ages and abilities to try at Albion World, ranging from wheelchair and disabled football, KICKz skills sessions for 12-19 year-olds, fun games and a mini football tournament for under 12s, while the Albion & Fire Services' inflatable shoot out goal was a hit with everyone.
At the In Zone, Albion's education team was on hand to talk about the adult education, training and volunteer programmes. Gully's Girls entertained the crowds and also invited budding young cheerleaders to join in and learn some moves. Albion stars Adam Virgo and Tommy Elphick delighted youngsters when they presented prizes to the winners of the Under 12s Mini Football tournament.
There are plenty more Take Part activities being held around the city until 11 July, with the chance to try out a wide range of sports, either free of charge or at special reduced rates.
Albion's Football and Multi Sports Development team are running a free football course taster session at Hove Park on Saturday 10 July from 10.30-12.30 for children of all abilities aged 5-11. No need to book, just turn up, or for more information telephone 01273 562611 or email footballcourses @studysupport.org.
