Albion In The Community were at Preston Park, Brighton, on Saturday 28 June as part of the first Brighton & Hove Festival Of Sport, Take Part 2008.
Among the many sporting stalls and exhibits, Albion In The Community's coaches ran football taster events for children.
Albion's education team were also present, promoting sports, exercise and coaching courses, many of which are free of charge. The AITC Football coaches (led by Nikki Richardson, Disability Football Coach, and Rory Osborne, Football Development Coach) ran a football target competition and mini fun matches. This proved very popular with children and their parents.
The AITC Education team (Andy Alexander, Education Development Manager and Matt Mead, Assistant Education Development Manager) found the event useful for making contact with other sporting organisations and individuals. Andy Alexander said, "We met people from several other local sports groups who are very keen to take up our offer of free coaching courses for their coaches.
"There is a lack of qualified coaches in many sports which is limiting the participation levels and opportunities for young people starting off in these sports."
Alan Sanders, Director Albion In The Community said, "It was a great day out for all. Albion In The Community very much looks forward to supporting the next festival."
The Take Part 2008 Festival includes many special events and taster sessions held around the city over the next 2 weeks. On Saturday 12 July, at Waterhall Playing Field, Mill Road, Brighton there is a Football Festival Tournament Day, organised by Albion In The Community, for adult 6-a-side teams.
