Albion in the Community are celebrating another piece of silverware, which caps a fine season for the scheme, thanks to Orchards Middle School under-11s, who represented Albion in the Schools Community Cup Final at Wembley yesterday.

The Albion side beat their opponents Owston Park Primary, representing Doncaster Rovers, courtesy of Mitchell Hartley's second-half strike, ahead of the League 1 Play Off Final between Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers.

Now in its third year, over 2000 schools were involved in this season's competition, with Worthing-based Orchards winning the right to represent Brighton in an Albion in the Community tournament between schools across Sussex.

They then won through to the final by winning the League 1 southern section tournament, held at Leyton Orient FC, while Owston won the League 1 northern section.

Hartley's calm side-footed strike gave Albion a deserved win in the six-a-side final. The rest of the Orchards team was: Jacob Bassett, Matthew Smith, David Beaney, Conor Chaplin, James Pike, Sam Marsden, Shaun Bashford and Lee Whittaker.
