Preview: Blackburn Rovers v Albion

Gus Poyet said this morning that there is no positive update on the injured players in his squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Blackburn.

Bruno (Achilles), Inigo Calderon (knee), Gary Dicker (knee) and Andrea Orlandi (rib) all missed Tuesday night’s draw against Millwall, and the Albion boss felt they only have slim chances of a recovery in time.

He told, “We don’t have any good news. Even if they have a small chance sometimes the weather doesn’t help either and right now we don’t have a pitch to train on today [Thursday], which is not fun.

“It’s not looking good so it could be difficult, but that’s life though. We take it, we don’t make any complaints, we do the best we can and we will be ready for the game.”

Liam Bridcutt was withdrawn during the second half on Tuesday night but Poyet confirmed that was more of a precaution.

“Liam has put in a lot of effort and played every game. There is perhaps a time when we should rest him and I need to be clever enough to know when that time is.

“It will depend on the game, personnel and other injuries. It’s not easy to give a rest to any player at the moment but we will see and manage it the best we can.”
